Lawyers prepare for Carson’s 3rd Grade Class

20 Feb 2013

Back to school!  Ireland Stapleton Pryor and Pascoe lawyers prepare to teach in-class activities for Carson Elementary’s third grade classes.

The firm has partnered with Carson Elementary and the Denver Bar Association’s Democracy in Education Committee, Partners Alliance of Lawyers & Schools (PALS).  PALS is a long-term, hands-on collaboration between students, teachers and lawyers.  Lawyer teams, Emily J. Powell and Thomas J. Wolf; Erica L. Tarpey and Rebecca L. Almon; and Michelle B. Ferguson and Matthew A. Court, are providing in-class activities that link the law and education together.

The activities include learning and using persuasive writing skills and participating in the American Bar Association’s Law Day 2013 art contest focused on the theme, Realizing the Dream: Equality for All.

Michelle B. Ferguson, a director at Ireland Stapleton and chair of the firm’s employment law practice, along with associate, Emily J. Powell, are coordinating the program.  “This is a great opportunity for our lawyers to give directly back to our community,” said Powell, “we’re all excited to be working with the teachers and the kids at Carson.”
