Ireland Stapleton Hosts Former Prime Minister of Libya
16 Sep 2016
Former Prime Minister of Libya, Mahmoud Jibril, discussed challenges facing his country and prospects for democracy at a meeting held on September 16th at Ireland Stapleton. Jibril, who lead the National Transition Council and served as Prime Minister after the overthrow of the Gaddafi regime, stated that the elected government of Libya has not received sufficient support from western countries to counter the power of militias and the alternative Islamist government.
Currently, Jibril leads the National Forces Alliance, one of the largest political parties in Libya. He is working with the Denver University Korbel School of International Studies on a project called Libya Vision 2035, a blueprint for transition from de facto militia-control to a stable democratic government.
WorldDenver, a local non-profit supported by Ireland Stapleton Pryor & Pascoe, organized the meeting for its members and attorneys at the firm.
