In this Attorney Spotlight, we introduce you to litigation attorney Mamie Ling. Having come from a career in marketing, Mamie has been utilizing her creative side to navigate the complexities of litigation. Get to know Mamie and why she chose to jump into the world of law.

Can you describe yourself in five words?

Only five words? I don’t know if I can as a litigator! Here goes – dedicated, thoughtful, curious, result-oriented, and motivated. Result-oriented can be one word, right?

Why did you become a lawyer?

I’m that strange person that doesn’t mind standing up and speaking publicly. After a brief career in marketing and public relations, I looked for something that could satisfy my desire to constantly learn and address my curiosity. I realized, if I combine the things I enjoy doing and want, it landed me in the legal profession. Turns out, I was right and I really enjoy being confronted with a problem and finding ways to solve it that fits within the client’s needs and current situation.

If you weren’t a lawyer, what would you be?

I probably would still be in marketing and public relations, working on addressing client needs and connecting them with their target audience. I haven’t contemplated what else I would be if I were not a lawyer. Perhaps some day I’ll have another idea!

What is the next big thing you’d like to accomplish in your career?

I hope to argue before the Colorado Supreme Court, and then continue building from there. One step at a time! Arguing before the Colorado Court of Appeals early on in my legal career is still one of the highlights for me!
