Effective August 10, 2016, employers are no longer required to complete an Affirmation of Legal Work Status form for new employees hired after August 10, 2016. The new state law, HB 16-1114 eliminates state employment verification standards that duplicate federal law requirements, including attesting that the employer has verified the employee’s legal work status, has not altered or falsified employee’s identification documents, and has not knowingly hired an unauthorized alien.
