Ireland Stapleton Pryor & Pascoe was awarded the YMCA of Metropolitan Denver’s 2016 Community Partner Award at the organization’s annual gala April 19, 2017. The award was given to the Firm for its decades long commitment to the Y.
Jim Hiner, President and CEO of the YMCA of Metropolitan Denver, presented the award to Ireland Stapleton attorney William Tanis, who serves on the Y Board of Trustees and is the fifth Ireland Stapleton lawyer to serve in that capacity. The Y’s mission is to strengthen the foundations of our communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Denver YMCA serves more than 68,000 members, volunteers and program participants at numerous locations throughout the Denver Metro Area.
“One of the greatest things about America is our nonprofit corporations,” said Tanis. “The great French political theorist, Alexis de Toqueville, wrote in his influential book, Democracy in America, written in the 1830s, that one of the things he admired about America was the endless skill spent in creating associations to foster civic and not political goals. One of those great civic associations is the YMCA. We at Ireland Stapleton are very proud of our more than 50 years of association with the YMCA of Metropolitan Denver.
