Jim Killean, a real estate and natural resources lawyer, is a shareholder in the Denver-based law firm, Ireland Stapleton Pryor & Pascoe, PC. He joined the firm in 2004 and now leads the firm’s real estate and energy practice groups. Mr. Killean represents both large and small landowners on a variety of real estate and energy related matters including oil and gas, renewable energy and transmission matters, and he works frequently with businesses in the energy and environmental service industries. In addition to his real estate and energy practice, he also advises clients on general business law matters, as well as on mergers and acquisitions.
Prior to joining Ireland Stapleton, Mr. Killean worked as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Wyoming, where he represented the Wyoming Board of Land Commissioners and the Office of State Lands and Investments in various matters involving public lands, including land and mineral sales, exchanges and leases, land use permits, oil and gas matters, mineral royalty payments, and timber and forestry contracts.
Mr. Killean has been involved in the Colorado Lawyers Committee since 2006, serving as a Nonprofit Advocate and Clinic in a Box participant. He is licensed to practice in both Colorado and Wyoming.
He earned his law degree in 1999 from Vanderbilt Law School, with a Dean’s Award for Outstanding Dissertation. He earned his Master’s Degree in German Studies and his undergraduate degree, magnum cum laude, from Syracuse University in 1995 and 1993, respectively.Memberships
