Elizabeth Woodward is a real estate and environmental law attorney. In her practice she represents individuals, businesses, utilities and special districts in navigating the complexities of real estate purchases and management and environmental compliance and due diligence. Clients seek Elizabeth’s counsel on the entire spectrum of real estate ownership from acquisition, financing, development and entitlements, and leasing, to the sale and liquidation of assets. Elizabeth is adept at counseling on appropriate environmental due diligence, including the purchase and sale of environmentally sensitive or contaminated properties, and she advises local governments on NEPA compliance.
Other elements of Elizabeth’s practice include estate planning and probate; corporate (including nonprofit) formation; and advising on federal, state, and local regulatory matters such as lending regulations, common interest communities, environmental testing and clean-up; oil and gas matters; hazardous material transportation; and utility regulation.
Prior to joining Ireland Stapleton, Elizabeth practiced at the Washington D.C. firm Wiley Rein, LLP. There, her practice focused on environmental and regulatory matters. She counseled clients, including pesticide manufacturers; battery and electronics manufacturers, retailers and recyclers; members of the consumer products’ industries; and waste management companies on a broad range of environmental, health and safety-related regulatory matters on how to comply with laws implemented by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Consumer Product Safety Commission and state and local agencies. After years of working on federal regulatory issues, Elizabeth moved to Colorado and folded her regulatory and environmental experience into real estate practice. She loves breaking down the complexities that can be associated with antiquated real estate laws to provide clients with business-oriented solutions.
