Ireland Stapleton is proud to help sponsor the Colorado Bar Association (CBA)’s Rule of Law Contest, presented by the Colorado Bar Association’s Rule of Law Task Force. Ireland Stapleton attorney Lidiana Rios is a member of the Task Force and will play an integral role in organizing this community-focused and educational opportunity.
The Rule of Law Contest offers high school students an opportunity to share their knowledge about the legal system and earn a portion of the $1,500 total cash prize. Students are asked to create a video to help others understand the fundamental principles that protect our freedoms and ensure justice for all. The video can focus on one of four topics, including:
- Respect for the Rule of Law – The principle that laws apply equally to all people, regardless of their position or status in society.
- Judicial Independence – How judges make decisions based on law and facts, free from political pressure or outside influence.
- The Right to Counsel – Every person’s right to legal representation, ensuring fair treatment in our justice system.
- Separation of Powers – How the three branches of government (executive, legislative, judicial) check and balance each other’s power.
Videos can be submitted from September 2nd through October 31st. All submissions will then be judged by the CBA’s Rule of Law Task Force, and a winner will be announced on November 15th, 2025.
The Colorado Bar Association’s Rule of Law Task Force was formed to promote understanding of democratic principles and judicial independence throughout Colorado. This contest represents their commitment to educating the next generation about the foundations of the U.S. legal system.
