Laff Co-Authors Chapter on IP Rights in Agriculture

Ireland Stapleton attorney Barbara Laff has co-authored a chapter in the book Mycoagroecology: Integrating Fungi into Agroecosystems . Her contribution to the chapter deals with legal recognition of plants as intellectual property, the risk farmers have of infringing patent law, and the economic impact intellectual property has on agriculture.

Mycoagroecology: Integrating Fungi into Agroecosystems, edited by Elizabeth Gall and Noureddine Benkeblia, is a recently published textbook that focuses on the understanding and management of “mycoagroecology,” which is the practice of using fungi to increase the sustainability of agricultural systems.

Barbara Laff has been practicing law for over 35 years and has represented both private and public companies in numerous complex intellectual property matters and intellectual property licensing transactions.
