Elizabeth Woodward is a real estate and environmental law attorney who represents individuals, businesses, utilities, and special districts in navigating the complexities of real estate transactions, property management, and environmental compliance. Clients seek Elizabeth’s counsel on the full spectrum of real estate ownership, from acquisition and financing to development, entitlements, leasing, and the sale or liquidation of assets. She also advises on environmental due diligence, including matters involving environmentally sensitive or contaminated properties, and counsels local governments on National Environmental Policy Act compliance.
Elizabeth’s practice also includes estate planning and probate, corporate formation including nonprofit entities, and advising on federal, state, and local regulatory matters. Her regulatory experience spans lending regulations, common interest communities, environmental testing and remediation, oil and gas matters, hazardous materials transportation, and utility regulation.
Before joining Ireland Stapleton, Elizabeth practiced at Wiley Rein LLP in Washington, D.C., where she focused on environmental and regulatory law. In that role, she advised clients including pesticide manufacturers, battery and electronics manufacturers, retailers and recyclers, consumer products companies, and waste management businesses on compliance with environmental, health, and safety laws enforced by the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the United States Food and Drug Administration, the Consumer Product Safety Commission, and state and local agencies.
After years of working on federal regulatory issues, Elizabeth relocated to Colorado and integrated her regulatory and environmental background into a real estate focused practice. She is known for her ability to break down complex and often antiquated real estate laws and deliver practical, business oriented solutions for her clients.
