Eric R. Benson is a business law attorney and shareholder with Ireland Stapleton. His practice focuses on advising businesses on legal matters throughout the life cycle of the business. Established businesses, start-ups, and entrepreneurs come to Eric for legal advice on matters involving business formation, employment, compensation and incentive plan issues, mergers and acquisitions, leases, contracts, and general corporate matters. Eric also advises nonprofit organizations regarding formation, qualification for tax-exempt status, mergers and acquisitions, and general matters related to their operations. Other elements of his practice include the preparation of legal opinions, estate planning, real estate leasing, healthcare, tax, and ERISA law matters. He also has experience preparing and maintaining benefit and compensation plans.
Prior to moving to Denver and joining Ireland Stapleton, Eric worked at Partners Healthcare in Boston, where he implemented a project using technological innovations and patient entered data to improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare delivery. He also worked as an associate attorney in the executive compensation and employee benefits plan group of a Boston-based global law firm after graduating from law school in 2007. Further, Eric has experience as a policy consultant for the nonprofit organization Health Care For All, where he worked to assist and guide the implementation of the Massachusetts health insurance reforms that became the model for the federal Affordable Care Act.
