Biography

Eric R. Benson is a business law attorney and shareholder at Ireland Stapleton. He advises businesses on legal matters throughout the full life cycle of an organization, working with established companies, startups, and entrepreneurs on a wide range of corporate and transactional issues.

Eric’s practice includes business formation, employment matters, compensation and incentive plans, mergers and acquisitions, leasing, contracts, and general corporate governance. He also advises nonprofit organizations on formation, qualification for tax exempt status, mergers and acquisitions, and ongoing operational matters. In addition, his practice encompasses the preparation of legal opinions, estate planning, real estate leasing, healthcare related matters, tax, and ERISA issues. He has significant experience preparing, implementing, and maintaining employee benefit and compensation plans.

Before relocating to Denver and joining Ireland Stapleton, Eric worked at Partners HealthCare in Boston, where he helped implement a project that leveraged technological innovation and patient entered data to improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare delivery. After graduating from law school in 2007, he practiced as an associate attorney in the executive compensation and employee benefits group of a Boston based global law firm. Eric also served as a policy consultant for the nonprofit organization Health Care For All, where he supported the implementation of Massachusetts health insurance reforms that later served as a model for the federal Affordable Care Act.
