
Jim Killean is a real estate and natural resources attorney and a shareholder at the Denver based law firm Ireland Stapleton Pryor & Pascoe, PC. He joined the firm in 2004 and leads its real estate and energy practice groups. Jim represents landowners of all sizes on a wide range of real estate and energy related matters, including oil and gas, renewable energy, and transmission projects. He also works extensively with businesses in the energy and environmental services industries. In addition, Jim advises clients on general business law matters and mergers and acquisitions.
Before joining Ireland Stapleton, Jim served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Wyoming. In that role, he represented the Wyoming Board of Land Commissioners and the Office of State Lands and Investments in matters involving public lands, including land and mineral sales, exchanges, and leases, land use permits, oil and gas issues, mineral royalty payments, and timber and forestry contracts.
Jim has been active with the Colorado Lawyers Committee since 2006, serving as a Nonprofit Advocate and as a participant in the Clinic in a Box program. He is licensed to practice law in both Colorado and Wyoming.
Jim earned his law degree from Vanderbilt Law School in 1999, where he received the Dean’s Award for Outstanding Dissertation. He earned a master’s degree in German Studies and an undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Syracuse University in 1995 and 1993, respectively.
